This study applies Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) to develop reduced-order models for rapid prediction and reconstruction of indoor temperature fields under impinging jet ventilation.

Two complementary approaches were investigated:

  1. Parameter-Based Prediction (POD-RBF) — predicting the complete indoor temperature field from operating conditions such as inlet velocity and internal heat load.
  2. Sparse Sensor Reconstruction (POD-LSE) — reconstructing the complete temperature field from measurements obtained by a limited number of temperature sensors.

The results demonstrate the potential of POD-based reduced-order modeling for efficient indoor environmental prediction without repeatedly performing computationally expensive CFD simulations.

The sparse-sensor approach is particularly promising for future applications in real-time environmental monitoring, HVAC control, and building digital twins.
